Dr. Grant Dunbar

Owner and Medical Director

From an early age, Dr. Dunbar discovered his love for animals as he frequently brought home any stray or abandoned animal. This passion evolved into spending time after school and on the weekends at his father’s hospital developing the skills needed to take care of the animals he cared so much about.

He continued to follow his passion by pursuing a Doctorate degree at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. Dr. Dunbar then went on to complete an internship program at Animal Emergency Medical Center in L.A. focusing on critical care, surgery and internal medicine.

After spending his postgraduate years working as an emergency veterinarian, general practitioner and surgeon, he became the owner and medical director of Chino Hills Animal Hospital. Dr. Dunbar looks forward to providing you and your beloved pet with the quality of care he has worked his life towards perfecting.

Dr. Theresa Brauer

Dr. Brauer was an animal-loving child with dogs, birds and hamsters; thus, she isn’t surprised when people bring in every type of furry animal to her. She attended undergraduate and veterinary school in her home state at the University of Illinois where she met her husband who is also a veterinarian.

She has been practicing at this hospital for many years and enjoys the long-term relationships and trust she has built with clients. She feels gratitude that owners have trusted her as she helps them and their many pets. Outside of work, Dr. Brauer enjoys traveling, hiking and birding with her husband and has been an avid yoga practitioner for over 10 years.

Dr. Kaylee Otterson

Dr. Otterson is excited to help you and your furry pets whether dog, cat or pocket pet. She completed her undergraduate degree in Animal Science at Cal Poly Pomona and graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. As a veterinarian, she looks forward to strengthening the human animal bond by educating clients in the many benefits of preventative medicine.

In her free time, Dr. Otterson enjoys being with her husband, her daughter, and her Pitbull, Beesly. She also shares her home with a Leopard Gecko called Jimothy. (Can you tell she’s a fan of The Office?) When she’s able to enjoy a moment or two alone from the busy veterinary life, Dr. Otterson can be found reading, golfing and listening/watching anything true crime.

Dr. Tierra Tyson

Growing up in the Bay area of northern California, Dr. Tyson could always be found around animals, but her furry little pup, Gypsy, and her horse, Rascal, hold a special place in her heart as her first patients. It is with their unconditional love and support she continued her personal and professional passion as a veterinarian. She later obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences and continues her dedicated endeavor to nurture the human animal bond.

When she has a moment alone, Dr. Tyson is never far from the animals she loves. With a horse and two pups anxiously waiting back at home, she enjoys every waking moment riding her trusted companion or hiking with her two dogs. A break away into mother nature is just what the doctor ordered for this incredible veterinarian!

Dr. Jodi Ellis

Dr. Ellis grew up in Southern California and has always had a deep love and passion towards caring for animals. During her undergrad studies,
she worked at a physical therapy facility helping rehabilitate horses.

She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University and completed her clinical year at Iowa State University. Her favorite aspect of working in the veterinary field is helping her patients feel their best in every stage of life.

In her free time, Dr. Ellis enjoys playing pickleball, paddle boarding and spending time with her family and friends, along with her cats,
Sheldon and Puffy, and dog, Jackson. She can often be found attending sporting events or exploring new hiking trails.

Dr. Sarah Alecxih

Dr. Sarah Alecxih is a compassionate and dedicated veterinarian who grew up right here in Chino Hills. She pursued her passion for Veterinary medicine at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for her undergraduate degree in Animal Science. She then earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at St. George’s University and completed her clinical year at Texas A&M.

When she’s not caring for her patients, Dr. Alecxih can often be found hiking through Chino Hills’ beautiful landscapes or curling up with a good book. At home, she’s kept busy by her two dogs: a playful Pomeranian named Benji, and her sweet rescue pup, Chowder. She is excited to be joining the team and looks forward to providing high-quality, compassionate care to all the pets in our community.

Dr. Janelle Cano

Driven by a desire to stand up for those who can’t advocate for themselves, Dr. Cano found a natural calling in veterinary medicine. She’s especially committed to building strong relationships with both pets and their people, focusing on client communication and education to ensure every animal receives the best care possible.

She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Royal Veterinary College in London. After exploring Europe and making lasting memories, she returned home to Southern California to begin her career close to her parents and family.

Outside of the clinic, she loves enjoying life with her husband and their pup, Miloh. She’s an avid coffee shop explorer, enjoys baking sweets and trying out new recipes, and never turns down a good road trip or camping getaway.
